m4v file extension (archive_name.m4v)

M4V is another MPEG video file. especifically its a MPEG 4 video file (encoded with this codec).

Its generally used by iTunes and iPod in video files, the format provides good quality and low file size which is very good for downloading and sharing.

More over it's streameable (can be watched while being download) so it adds another point for the web.

Well most new video players support this file but stay with media player classic or GOM player which are our suggested solutions.
